You’re looking to spend the holidays somewhere else. Maybe you’re just tired of all the family events or playing host. You want to just get away for at least part of the holiday season. You’ve picked the beautiful Basswood Resort Campground and Country Inn and who can blame you? Missouri is a wonderful destination to just relax.
Just because you want to get away doesn’t mean you want to spend all your time camping. You can visit the Winter Wonderland event at the Ben Ferrel Platte County Museum. If you’re around before thanksgiving you can see the Snow Princess. In early December you can take a guided tour of the Winter Wonderland – theme mini mansion. You’ll enjoy an old-fashioned treat and see Christmas trees in every room.
On December 9th you can experience Breakfast with Santa. You’ll get a pancake breakfast that includes eggs and sausage, OJ, coffee, tea, and water. Of course, the main draw are free pictures with Santa. Why wait in a long line with your kids when you can skip all that and get something to eat?
If you’re willing to travel a little bit (about a 45 miles), you can visit nearby Savannah and experience the Santa Social. For a $15 fee, you can visit Santa, plus a whole lot more. They offer bracelet making, a train ride, a s’more station and a cupcake walk. Other activities include writing a letter to Santa, hayrides, making reindeer food, and making ornaments. Much of it is outdoors, so you’ll want to bring warm clothing and a blanket.
