Located
in the main inn building, on the lower lake side level, you'll
find the Country French Suites. These modern facilities are
characterized by their charming country French decor and the
photos that give way to each of their namesakes.
In
addition to any special features mentioned below, each of
the Country French Suites has:
- King-size
bed and sitting area.
(Some also offer a queen sleeper sofa.)
- Kitchenette
with refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave. Dining area.
- Private
bath with tub/shower.
(Some have Jacuzzi tubs for two!)
- Television
and VCR; telephone; desk and lamp. Private entrance. Deck
and grill.

The Country French Suites
The
Kansas City Blues Suite
(Baseball, that is!) This suite is named in honor of the Kansas
City American Association Minor League Team active from 1901
to 1954. This suite also has queen sleeper sofa.
The
Hollywood Suite
A. J. Stephens, the Kansas City millionaire who once owned
Basswood, entertained many Hollywood stars, as well as entire
casts performing in local theatres. This suite also has queen
sleeper sofa.
Missouri
Governor Forrest Smith Suite
Governor of Missouri from 1949 to 1953, Forrest Smith was
frequently seen relaxing at Basswood.
The
Don and Betty Suite
This extra-large suite (named for former owners, Don and Betty
Soper) includes a Jacuzzi tub for two!
The
A. J. Stephens Suite
Basswood's founder operated Basswood as a private sportman's
club, encouraged the plant life (he wrote a gardening column
for the Kansas City Star), and entertained celebrities from
near and far. This suite include a Jacuzzi tub for two.
The
Nellie Stephens Suite
Another of our suites offering a romantic Jacuzzi tub for
two is named for Nellie, wife of A. J. Stephens.
